Transcript: Hello, I am Hijrah Hamid, Region 2 Representative for the RID Member Section ITOC (Interpreters and Transliterators of Color). This is our May 2014 update. RID will be hosting its regional conferences this year during the summer months. We have already confirmed that we will be on the schedule for Regions 1, 2, 3 & 5. We are awaiting confirmation from Region 4.
In Region 5 the ITOC forum will take place on Saturday, June 28th from 1p,-2:20pm. In Region 2 we are on the schedule for July 3rd, Thursday, from 8-10pm. This is an evening forum.We are still looking for presenters in Regions 2, 3 & 4. If you are an interpreter of color, or a presenter of color, or if you know someone who is, please contact us.
In the past ITOC has sold lapel pins. This year we are excited to offer you lanyards that will be made available to you during the conferences. We recognize that often pins are worn during conferences, but may not be put to use throughout the year. Lanyards provide an opportunity to represent ITOC year long. We will have a picture of the lanyards on our website soon.
The ITOC council has a goal of providing a dynamic website that allows for member discussion and sharing of ideas. If you have a topic of discussion that you would like to suggest please let us know.
Finally, the new RID Member portal has benefits to Member Sections. It used to be that you could only donate to a Member Section once per year during the time that you renewed your RID membership. The new RID Member Portal allows you to make contributions to Member Sections at your discretion. Donations to ITOC will be used for the purpose of providing professional development opportunities to our communities. Please donate.
